Jessica Karlsson, a.k.a. geminick, is an illustrator, comics artist, streamer and doll sculptor currently living in a small city in Sweden. She has studied comics art and illustration for two years and is currently working hard on becoming the very best version of herself as an artist.
A Wacom Cintiq, Clip Studio Paint and Photoshop are Jessica’s weapons of choice and with them she creates characters for both herself as well as others.
Jessica loves colours and prefers going with softly shaded and painted images rather than cell-shaded, cartoon-y ones. All kinds of character art are right up her alley; anything from comics, books, video games to her own storytelling projects.
Her first official comic was published on Tapas.io on September 1st 2018.
Her first love will most likely always be to draw and paint characters in 2D digitally. However, Jessica has found herself drawn not only to illustration and making comics, but also to sculpting – to the art of making ball-jointed dolls.
Jessica’s main inspiration for her dolls are her own original characters, created for one of her storytelling projects (comic and graphic novel in the making) and she hopes to make her favourite characters into dolls.
Her first doll, Ask, was released in 2016. Not inspired by any characters of his maker, Ask will always be different from Jessica’s other BJDs. He is a tribute to her heritage as a Scandinavian. The second doll, based off her main character Kostja Maldovan, can be seen on her YouTube channel.
